White waves on a tropical shore

Foreign exchange for travellers: cash, card or forex card?

A forex card usually wins on fees; cash is useful for the first hour.

Airport counters typically charge 3 to 5 percent more than city dealers. A forex card has a fixed rate and can be blocked if lost.

Compare three things: the rate, the fee and how fast you can get the money. Some forex cards charge nothing to load but 2 percent to withdraw.
